Domestic, international and commercial removals explained
Not every move is the same. Knowing which type yours is helps movers quote accurately and helps you compare like with like.
Domestic removals
A home move within the UK. Quotes are driven by the size of your current and new homes (bedrooms), the floor each is on and whether there’s lift access, plus optional extras like packing, furniture assembly and storage.
International removals
Moving your home overseas. Alongside the property details, movers need the destination country and your preferred shipping method — typically sea freight (cheaper, slower) or air freight (faster, pricier). Because the destination is abroad, we look up the overseas address directly rather than using UK property records.
Commercial removals
Relocating a business or office. These quotes focus on the practicalities of a workplace move: the floor and lift access, parking and any access issues, the number of staff being moved, the floor area involved, and whether the move needs to happen out of hours to avoid disrupting the business.
Whichever type of move you’re planning, giving accurate details up front means the quotes you receive are realistic and easy to compare.
